Todd Nicewonger received his Ph.D. in Applied Anthropology from Columbia University and has conducted fieldwork in eight different design contexts since 2001 across Europe, Kenya, and the United States. For the past six years, he has served as the lead ethnographer on three NSF-funded studies examining housing insecurity in remote Alaska Native communities off the road system, where environmental change is prompting communities to pursue a range of strategies, from adapting and defending existing settlements to phased or longer-term relocation.
